The lowdown on HD Brows

If you follow my facebook page – you might have noticed that I’ve mentioned HD Brows once or twice over the last few months. HD Brows is basically a branded seven step system designed to create perfect-looking, fully-defined statement eyebrows. An HD Brow session lasts between 30-45 minutes and features tinting, waxing and threading. An important detail is that this is a branded system meaning, whilst a therapist might be offering an eyebrow defining service that generates good result – the actual HD Brows system requires a certification. I decided to get my first session done last September, right before fashion week. I had had my eyebrows done many times before but I had never experienced an actual HD Brows session. I went to Antonella at the Beauty Team who has been doing them since 2012, right from the minute I sat down, I knew there would be quite a change.
She started out by ensuring that I was seated properly, that my head was in no way even slightly inclined and then she proceeded to measure parts of my face to determine what the ideal shape should be. Turns out that over the years, I’ve been removing hair from the wrong parts. I signed up for a 9-month treatment programme, that will basically promote regrowth in those areas that are now lacking hair whilst ensuring the shape continues to develop as desired.
Here’s the lowdown on the brow operation
  • Step 1 was the consultation.
  • Step 2 is tinting – eyebrows are darkened so as to look more defined. This can be a bit of a shock for the first two days especially if you’ve never darkened your eyebrows before, however once the colour settles, you’re left with a lovely defined colour.
  • Step 3 is waxing for precise removal both above and below the brow line.
During the treatment
  • Step 4 is threading to remove those unwanted hairs that weren’t removed by the wax and those unwanted hairs from within the brow. Step 5 is tweezing – yes there might still be hairs left.
  • Step 6 is trimming, some hairs are longer than others and can look a bit unruly.
  • Right after the session
  • Step 7 is basically a finishing, those areas still lacking enough hair are filled in using an eyebrow pencil.
It’s been four sessions now, (I go every 3 weeks) and the difference is impressive. After the first session, whilst I liked the new shape the holes were so glaringly obvious that I felt I couldn’t leave the house without filling them in and was considering going back to my previous shape which was designed to work with these holes so to speak. However now I often leave the house without touching them, the holes haven’t completely filled in yet but there’s a marked improvement and it’s still early days.
