La Perla Milan Fashion Week AW16

This event was one of the most anticipated at Milan Fashion Week since it was the first unveiling of new creative director Pedro Lourenço first collection for the brand. It was held at the stunning Società del Giardino. The brand has in recent years been slowly expanding its collection along the lines of innerwear worn as outerwear concept. It has also expanded and continued to focus on the beautiful and successful lingerie collections. There was also increased focus on “La Perla’s extended intimacy” – sleepwear, loungewear and even accessories collections. This is right on trend and perfectly placed to fit alongside current global fashion trends of wearing pyjamas and bras and slip dresses as outerwear.

A digital installation served as a backdrop for the models in a space filled with lots of white light, it felt like a coming together of the digital, filtered, perfect reality we are so ingrained in and actual reality. The pieces were simultaneously simple and elaborate. The silhouettes were clean and minimalistic but featured precise cuts in luxurious fabrics. Silk fabrics, laser cut styles with sheer materials and even brassiere construction were all features in the collection.
