Trends : Back in the EYE Game

I’ve always loved sunglasses – I mean, the amount of different pairs I own is a testament to that fact -it’s not like I break them or there’s a specific reason for such an amount….This summer, though, I think I might be umm bordering on obsessing. The increased interest started slowly – when I first started my collaboration with O’hea Opticians last month and tried on all the different pairs.

One month later and we’ve collaborated again on a second installment of the series.

Well, now there’s no hope for me, I’m hopelessly addicted. I’ve literally spent the last week thinking about sunglasses, looking at catwalk photos to see the different trends in action and trying the same pairs over and over trying in vain to decide what I like most and want.

First up, in the pic below and the cover photo above is a round-lensed, patterned pair by Givenchy. I love the fit and shape and well everything. However, the gold stud embellishment at the top of the frame are, imo, what turns this pair into something outstanding. I love such subtle clever detailing – this is what makes something extraordinary and worth paying more for.

Another round pair below. I really fell hard for these statement shades by Dior. I’m not sure whether to describe them as classic or not. The styling is quite elegant and classical but they’re also quite big and round which is quite a current trend and not something anyone would wear.

I decided to shoot this next pair as a product shot simply because I wanted to capture them next to the box in all their Tiffany-blue glory-ness. I wonder whether Tiffany knew how popular this little blue robin egg colour would be when they chose it, how many hearts would literally ache at the sight of that ‘blue box’. Needless to say – this is one big  ‘blue box’ below.
The shades are inscribed with the year Tiffany was founded, they are very sleek and elegant – definitely classics that would last a few good years.

Tom Ford has some sort of magic formula up his sleeve. He always manages to produce items that convey fashion, power, sexiness and elegance  – all in one helping. These Anoushka cat eye heavy duty babies are just perfectly put together. Although they’re large and as someone I know might say, pointy, they even manage to sit well on my small face.

Last but not least – it’s all about Choo. Dainty and pretty is how I describe these Jimmy Choo Raffa shades. Although the interesting shape makes them also quite trendsetters.
