Tech: My Favourite Apps Part 1

I’ve decided to start a new section on this blog – a tech-related one. Not all of you are aware that I am a computer scientist. By day I don the geeky dress code and play around with computers to make them do things. It comes as a surprise to many people but I’ve always had a huge love for technology.
For the first tech-related post I’ve decided to focus on something we all use – Mobile Apps. I’m going to give some details about my three current favourites that I keep using and reusing.

Pixlr
Pixlr is a photo editing app. I actually use multiple photo editing apps and I’ll be highlighting others in follow-up posts but Pixlr is the one I’ve been using for longest. It allows you to edit all aspects of photos including light, colour, saturation, contrast , to crop them and rotate them, to filter them and to collage them. One of my favourite features is the ability to resize images to your specs. This is something not available on many photo editing apps and is extremely handy.
The Entertainer
The Entertainer is an app I’ve mentioned a few times before on this blog. It is basically a discount app for restaurants/ beauty services and leisure activities. The discount is that you get 2 for the price for 1 so in the case of restaurants that’s 2 ppl only pay for one main course, in the case of beauty service you pay for the first session but the next time is free. For leisure activities, 2 people pay for 1. The discounts can be used 7days a week except public holidays and festivity dates and the best part is that there is no need to mention The Entertainer when booking, only when asking for the bill.

I always prefer stuff like this in app format but for those who prefer to carry around a physical voucher – there is also a book consisting of different pull-out vouchers.

In the coming weeks, I’m going to be using the app to go to a few interesting places and I’ll be posting about the activity 😀
Snapchat
Snapchat is a current social media climber. It’s had quite a worldwide phenomenal rise to stardom and the younger generations especially are quite hooked. Many people however still don’t seem to get the point of it. I enjoy Snapchat because it is a small window into someone’s day, someone’s life. Instagram, whilst still a favourite has become a filtered, curated gallery but Snapchat is currently still quite a view onto reality. Of course, the hilarious filters don’t hurt either. If you’re on snapchat send me your handles or give me a follow on @carolinestyling.
